about

The album that introduced the work of Lee M. Bartow to the wider world back in 2001, the first full-length CD release by NTT on MALIGNANT RECORDS was constructed from materials recorded between the mid-late 90s and very early 2000s, using both Tascam 424 MKII and Porta One cassette 4 tracks, the programs Soundedit16 and SoundeditPro on an Apple Quadra 605 and PowerMac 7200.

Additional recordings and mixing were done during the Spring, Summer, and Autumn of 2000, in the garage of "Elf Village," the house shared by the members of NEGATIVEHATE, on a Roland VS880 and VS1680.

The album's final version was edited and mastered with the help of James Plotkin using SoundHack on a PC in the basement of Chuck Scandura's (NEGATIVEHATE) parents' house.

This initial pre-master was created using BDN's INNERWAR as reference, which led to the first submission being rejected by Phil Easter for being too loud.

This album was released just two months before the events of September 11, 2001, and there were some who found the album's cover art featuring city ruins to be prophetic.

"After numerous underground tape releases and live actions, the much anticipated disc of this long standing member of the NYPE crew has arrived. Navicon presents an infinitely bleak and apocalyptic vision that transcends what's normally classified as power electronics. This is the sound of a post nuclear-war society, where war machines shudder and grind in endless cycles, and the black soot of dying factory production fills the poisonous air. Structured elements of loops and samples meld with caustic textures, erupting amidst bridled chaos and pulsating waves of white hot, saturated noise and distortion. An anguished, confrontational vocal presence makes itself known, exploding in a cathartic aggression brought on by suppressed demons and festering hate. A roughly translated review from Black Magazine (Germany): ‘…one of the best power electronics releases in a long time… an apocalyptic vision, the soundtrack for the decline. Pulsating loops, controlled structures and hypnotic sounds turning this Cd into a much varied album. Confrontational vocals, powerful bass and noise that is as dirty as possible. Compare to Con-Dom, Grey Wolves and Ex.Order”! “Through a proliferation of agile loops forming a steel glove pummel, the sheer insistence of the tonal assault and the singular, concentrated delirium of the N.T.T mindset, the elements collide, a fusion culminating in an abyssal machinery holocaust, nonpareil"
- J.C Smith.

"I pray your pain is endless, and that you never forget, the life you could have saved, but you corrupted instead." - M. Gira
