Eve McGivern I love absolutely everything Theologian touches; I find much of what he does is magical. This is no exception, and also serves as my introduction to Lament Cityscape. The combination makes for a fine blend of tribal ambient.

  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

Soft Tissue is a collaborative album conceived by brooding Oakland-based “larva rock” project LAMENT CITYSCAPE, and New York “blackened synth-death” act THEOLOGIAN, compositing industrial degeneracy and post-metal heft to create a thoroughly oppressive, and immersive, sonic experience.

Recorded between Autumn 2015 and Spring 2016, Soft Tissue is a towering portent of calamities awaiting humanity as a whole, obsessively examining the fragility not just of our bodies, but of the subjective moralities which define our civilization as well. Spearheaded by producers Mike McClatchey of LAMENT CITYSCAPE and THEOLOGIAN’s Lee Bartow, and featuring input from past and present members of each project, Soft Tissue is underscored by a seamless integration of the best qualities of both groups. Bowel-wracking percussive attacks, brutally heavy riffs, and boundless drones are juxtaposed with guttural, apocalyptic, howls from the deepest abysses of psychological anguish.

Includes unlimited streaming of SOFT TISSUE via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

Give nothing back The death of hope Disappointed by progress, We call this "Progress" If you can call this “Progress” (how can you call this progress?) Let's call it what is is: Decimation Regardless of cost Full speed ahead No point in counting the dead The sorrow can not be contained As nature is put to the flame As we dump it all into the drain Herd everyone onto the train
2.
OLD FLYEATER 05:15
Old Flyeater, she’s comin for you. She’s got hooks in her hands and murder in her mind. Old Flyeater, she’s comin for you. She’s lickin her lips, her panties are wet. Old Flyeater, she’s comin for you, a devil with blonde hair and eyes of blue. Old Flyeater, with murder in mind, She’s gonna suck yer cock dry, and fuck ya from behind.

Trapped at the bottom of a well I see bloody marks in the walls Bones all around me Scorched black The first coals fall slowly I'll sit here until the light dies I scream involuntarily Up to my ankles now In excruciating pain I try to keep standing I fall and I writhe I'm burning to death And I deserve it Yes, I deserve it But so do you all With the skin on my face Cracked and charred I smile with the knowledge: You will all feel the same Excruciating pain
4.
Eyeless Nameless Anonymous Lifeless Rotting, crumbling, becoming, nothing Dreamless and dreaming Eyeless and seeing Lifeless and screaming Into darkness unyielding I fall into a vast yawning pit, Infinity stretching behind me. I hear the cries of those who came here before me, their warnings to turn back like thunder in my ears. Even if i had a choice, by now it's far too late. I must continue downward until i know what is ahead, in all that black immensity.
5.
A fire needs fuel, and leaves waste behind. We all must consume or die. A pack of hyænas, upon a rotting carcass, we are the last remnants of a dying race… All of us are rapists, murderers, liars, ruiners, hypocrites, nobody is exempt. (Complicity) The duality of man: Destroy everything you can “We can.” Oh, mankind, why are you so unkind?
6.
FLECHETTE 04:00
You pass right through me, over and over again. And in your place, are all these holes, which cannot heal. Cannot heal Cannot heal Cannot heal
7.
OH, MASTER 06:02
All positive thought Bears stark contrast To harsh conditions Which encompass Oh, Master Let me see for everyone A saviorless presence In crumbling days Escape thwarted In every way Oh, Master Let me speak for everyone Decay in these pores Devours all soul All semblance of purpose Remorselessly overthrown Oh, Master Let me choose for everyone This vastness of anguish I now part its tides The void there before me Pulls this shell inside Oh, Master Let me be everyone
