In 2021, ANNIHILVS released the debut album by Thierry Arnal and Pascal Bertier under their collaborative monicker 2W, sparking an ongoing relationship which continues into 2022 with this collaborative effort, created under the names of each artist’s individual project, namely SCORCHED EARTH POLICY LABORATORIES (Arnal) and NEAR DARK MATTER (Bertier).
A four-part power-drone masterpiece, BRUTALISM constructs a series of sonic environments that have weight and heft, casting shadows as the listener treads along on the mental avenues constructed by slowly evolving of heavy electronics threnodies, and flanked by ever-more imposing and unyielding monuments to a past that never was, and a future that will never be.
