EXTERMINATION was released as an extremely limited cassette (20 copies) for the NTT performance on April 19, 2000, supporting DEATH SQUAD and HYDRA at the now-defunct PYRAMID CLUB in NYC. This was the infamous "Easter Bunny" performance by HYDRA; Greg Scott had purchased a skinned rabbit from a local butcher shop, and during his performance, crucified a plush easter bunny toy, and sliced it open, pulling the skinned rabbit from within.

The tape's original cover art, a distorted photo of a mass grave, bore the following quote from Dr. Peter Singer, author of ANIMAL LIBERATION:

"I do not believe it is always wrong to kill a human being." - Peter Singer

Singer is the descendant of Austrian Jews; his grandparents had died, presumably in Łódź, where they had been sent by the Nazis.

Aside from his animal rights activism, Singer has issued well-documented opinions on the use of abortion, euthanasia and infanticide as a a means to mitigate human suffering. It is ironic that a man who had lost family in the camps would come to espouse the value of killing disabled children, while asserting the value of animals languishing in factory farms as they wait to die. This is known as "Effective Altruism."

The title EXTERMINATION, and the release's two "title tracks," refer to the infamous line, "Exterminate all the brutes!" written by the character Kurtz in Joseph Conrad's HEART OF DARKNESS.

The track PERFECT SALVATION INITIATION is titled after a device created by Japanese doomsday cult Aum Shinrikyo, which was said to sync members' brainwave patterns to those of cult leader Shoko Asahara. The track uses sounds also found in the NTT track, SOUL MURDER, REVISITED.

The track GHETTO BLASTER posits a science fiction reality where European Jews had access to a suit of powered armour to wipe out their oppressors.

While this release had at one point been misunderstood as a gesture of support for white supremacy and antisemitism, it is in fact the exact opposite, and in broader subtext the spite within is not targeted toward a single culture, but toward all of humanity, though as with HEART OF DARKNESS, it could be seen as a condemnation of European colonialism, at least in part. I believe it was an attempt on my part to reckon with the experience of being a mixed-race Jew who was involved in a questionable music scene.

Its reissuing here was preceded by VIKTIMISATION, a limited dual cassette+shirt bundle released in 2013, which combined this material with the VIKTIMISER cassette, also from 2000. While this other cassette's contents are not currently available digitally, the shirts are still in stock and will be included in a bundle with this release.

Considering what is happening in the US in recent months, this re-release is quite timely.
